About Wiggl App

As the Lead Product Designer at Wiggl, I designed a mobile app specifically to address muscle pain experienced by remote employees. My goal was to create a seamless user experience that integrates personalized ergonomic assessments, daily stretch reminders, and progress tracking to enhance physical well-being for those working from home.

project background

Identifying the Problem

Through my research and analysis, I identified several key challenges faced by remote employees:Prolonged Sitting: Extended periods of sitting lead to discomfort in areas such as the neck, shoulders, and back.Poor Ergonomic Setups: Many employees lack professional guidance to optimize their home workspaces for better posture.Balancing Health and Work: Integrating regular movement and posture corrections into a busy work schedule is challenging. To address these issues, I aimed to develop a solution that is accessible, user-friendly, and effective in improving physical health for remote workers.

Discovery & Research

I conducted user interviews with remote employees to gather insights:

• Posture Management: Users needed clear, actionable guidance to improve their posture without disrupting their workflow.

Ergonomic Assessments: There was a strong demand for virtual assessments to help users optimize their home work environments.

Motivation and Consistency: Users required regular reminders and gamified elements to maintain engagement with their health routines.

These findings guided my approach to designing Wiggl, focusing on practical and engaging solutions tailored to remote workers' specific needs.

Prototyping & Design:

User Flow and Wireframes:

To create an intuitive and effective experience, I designed a seamless user journey from onboarding through daily use:

Onboarding: Users start by creating a profile and providing details about their workstation setup and discomfort areas. I used this information to generate a personalized wellness plan.

Daily Experience: Features include stretch reminders, ergonomic tips, and a progress tracker to keep users engaged and motivated.

I developed low-fidelity wireframes to emphasize intuitive navigation and ensure minimal disruption while delivering impactful ergonomic guidance.

UI Design:

The UI design was crafted with clarity and user engagement in mind:

Minimalist Design: I focused on a clean interface that allows users to access and complete daily exercises quickly without cognitive overload.

Customizable Themes: Options for dark and light modes were included to reduce eye strain and accommodate user preferences.

Engaging Visuals: I incorporated icons, animations, and color-coded progress tracking to make the experience both enjoyable and informative.

Solution 1: Frictionless Onboarding

I designed Wiggl’s onboarding process to be efficient and user-friendly:

Profile Creation: Users input basic information and details about their workstation and physical discomfort.

Personalized Plan: I generated a customized health score and wellness plan based on user input, providing a tailored start to their journey.

Solution 2: Personalized Daily Exercises

The app offers daily stretches and movement breaks tailored to user needs:

Customized Routine: I designed exercises to target specific discomfort areas such as the neck, shoulders, and back, based on user feedback.

Daily Refresh: New stretches are provided daily to keep users engaged and prevent monotony.

Solution 3: Gamification for Motivation

To boost user engagement, I incorporated gamified elements:

Health Scoring: Users earn points and increase their health score by completing exercises and ergonomic assessments.

Achievements: Milestones and rewards (e.g., "Consistent for 7 Days") provide motivation and encourage ongoing participation.

Solution 4: Data-Driven Insights: Wellness Score Visualization

I focused on incorporating data-driven insights to enhance user engagement and health outcomes. A key feature was the Wellness Score Visualization, which I designed to provide employees with an instant, clear understanding of their ergonomic health. The visualization displays a user’s Wellness Score, ranging from "Danger" to "Safe Zone," based on their ergonomic setup, posture, and equipment use.

To make the data actionable, the design included Contributing Factors—such as workstation setup, history of pain, and awkward postures—giving users clarity on what influences their score. The “What’s Next?” section offered personalized recommendations for exercises and ergonomic tools to maintain or improve their score.

This data-driven approach empowered employees to take proactive steps towards healthier work habits, while giving employers insights into the overall well-being of their teams. This feature was key in driving user engagement and retention, contributing to the app's successful pilots with companies like Amazon and Meta.

Solution 5: Employer Portal: Risk Score Visualization

At the same, to expand the impact, I also designed a Risk Score Visualization feature for the employer portal, offering a clear breakdown of employee health risks categorized as High, Medium, or Low based on ergonomic assessments.

Employers can easily track team health, identify high-risk employees, and implement targeted wellness programs. The What’s Next? section provides actionable recommendations like adjusting workstations or improving posture to reduce risks. This data-driven tool helps companies enhance employee well-being, improve productivity, and reduce healthcare costs.
