Ca Broadcom Project Portfolio Management (PPM) is an application designed for organizations to prioritize and manage their projects and budget effectively. A company providing PPM solutions wanted to enhance its user experience (UX) to make the process more intuitive and user-friendly.

Role


As the leader of a 2-person UX design team, my responsibilities included translating business goals into a visual solution for a PPM tool, with a focus on improving the UX through effective visual design, information architecture, and interaction design for two key areas: the Dashboard and Project Details.

Research

The first step was to conduct user research to understand the needs and expectations of the target users. The team conducted interviews and surveys to gather data from existing and potential users. The data revealed that users struggled with the current platform's complexity, lack of flexibility, and difficulty in finding critical information.

Define

Based on the research findings, the team created a user persona that represented the typical user. The persona helped the team empathize with the users' goals, challenges, and preferences, and it guided the design process.

Design

The next step was to create wireframes that showed the proposed solution's layout and functionality. The wireframes were tested with users to ensure that they could accomplish their tasks and goals easily. The testing feedback was incorporated into the design, and the team refined the wireframes further.The final design incorporated a cleaner and more intuitive interface, easier navigation, and flexible customization options. The solution included interactive dashboards that provided real-time project data, making it easier for users to make informed decisions.

Impact

The results of the case study were positive. The new UX design improved user satisfaction, reduced the learning curve, and increased productivity. The solution increased user engagement and retention, ultimately leading to increased revenue for the company.
