Project Overview
In 2018, Vmware set out to launch the MVP of their cloud services platform. I was tasked with designing a cohesive and intuitive onboarding experience to transition their existing users to the new platform. This project included developing a user management experience and creating a seamless dashboard to facilitate a smooth migration and management of users, while ensuring consistency across various existing services.aimed to revolutionize the cloud landscape by launching their innovative Virtual Data Centers and Services. Tasked by Hueydesigns with this ambitious project, my role was to design a cohesive and intuitive onboarding experience for VMware's cloud platform. This included creating a unified look and feel for their services, streamlining the user journey, and ensuring a consistent experience across various functionalities.
Understanding the Challenge
Vmware's cloud services platform required a streamlined onboarding process to integrate their existing user base into the new system. The challenge was to:
- Create a Unified Experience: Ensure that existing customers could easily navigate and manage their user accounts within the new cloud platform
. - Develop a Seamless Dashboard: Design an intuitive dashboard that would serve as a central hub for users to access and manage their cloud services.
- Maintain Consistency: Provide a consistent experience across the new platform and the existing services to minimize disruption and enhance usability.
My Approach
As the lead designer, I focused on the following key areas:
User Journey Mapping:
I mapped out the user journey to understand the existing pain points and user needs. This helped in identifying critical areas for improvement and designing an onboarding process that addressed these needs effectively.
Design Execution
Wireframes:
I developed wireframes for the onboarding process and user management experience, focusing on creating a logical flow and clear navigation paths
Dashboard Design
I designed a seamless dashboard that integrated existing services and provided users with easy access to manage their accounts and settings.
Interactive Prototypes
I created interactive prototypes to simulate the user experience and gather feedback on the onboarding and user management features.
